1. Stroll Along the Tampa Riverwalk

A delightful way to experience Tampa is by strolling along the Tampa Riverwalk. This 2.4-mile picturesque pathway links parks and attractions throughout downtown Tampa, perfect for a leisurely walk or a brisk jog. Whether biking, rollerblading, or walking, the Riverwalk provides a scenic route with stunning views of the Hillsborough River and the city skyline. I personally used to longboard down it when I was in college – Great time!

The Tampa Riverwalk hosts numerous free events throughout the year, including music festivals and art shows. Check out their current events page for updated information. You can also check out the Riverwalk’s self-guided art walking tour, which allows exploration at your own pace, uncovering the rich history and landmarks along the route.

2. Enjoy Curtis Hixon Park

Curtis Hixon Park, in downtown Tampa, is a green oasis offering something for everyone. With beautiful green spaces, two splash pads, and a playground for children aged 2 to 12, it’s perfect for families seeking a fun day outdoors. Bonus – the playground has shaded areas for parents.

Curtis Hixon Park also hosts concerts, festivals, and fitness classes throughout the year. You can also attend free yoga sessions at Curtis Hixon Park every Sunday from 6 PM to 7 PM. Alternatively, they offer HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) on Mondays at 6 PM; Zumba on Tuesdays at 6 PM; and Pilates on Wednesdays at 6 PM. Open to participants of all experience levels, these sessions are about more than physical exercise; they’re about community and shared wellness.

Tampa’s vibrant and diverse art scene is best experienced by exploring the city’s stunning murals. With over 50 murals showcasing various artistic styles, Tampa’s streets resemble an open-air gallery.
